Film Photography Post: Half Frame Photography

Image
Pedestrian Crossing Stop light. Solid Gold ISO 200 Film, Canon Demi Before restarting my film photography life, the only film formats I'd ever been exposed to was 35mm and 110 film. I'd owned a small 110 instamatic, used my parent's Canon AE-1P, and had, once upon a time, owned an EOS camera (the model of which I can't recall, and a body I can no longer find). My current place of work also has some medium format cameras on hand that I'd love to try out, not to mention some instant film cameras. The thought of using some of the former excites me, Megamall Arcade I'd only discovered half frame cameras during my first month at Lomography as well. I'd done a little online window shopping and found myself enamored with the idea of effectively doubling a roll's capacity by taking half of a regular 35mm frame with each shot. I'd seen several Olympus Pen units being sold at 2k and up online, as well as in Hidalgo. Encouraged by a friend's ...

Happy Birthday Anya!

Image
I haven't covered a party in awhile. Partially because my last camera was starting to show its age, and partly because there hadn't been a work-party during my last few months at the previous company. Recently though we got invited to a birthday party and I took some photos there. Can't say it was proper coverage though. It was quite a party! There were booths for food, and games where kids could play to win play money they could then exchange at the redemption booth. Just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANYA!  I've noticed however that the aperture on the 14 to 42mm lens is getting sticky. It, together with the E410, is showing its age. I was using it on an E520, a recent acquisition, and shots would get progressively darker as the aperture got smaller and stuck with every shot. It would reset itself with a power-off and on cycle. Not something I like doing. Might need to have it fixed, if at all possible.

Film Photography Post: Ortigas CBD Skyline

Image
Like I previously posted, I've been re-exploring film. It takes me awhile to go through a roll though. Just wanted to post this one here. I haven't been able to post it on my lomohome as of this moment, but I've used it as my cover photo on Facebook. Ortigas Skyline. Solid Gold ISO 200 Film, Lomo LC-A+ For this shot, I used two strips of electric tape to cover half of the lens for the first exposure, move to the other half and flipped the camera for the 2nd exposure. One of the challenges of contemporary film photography is sourcing film. Aside from relying on some old stock I'd managed to keep over the years (which is dangerously running low), and getting a few rolls from work or friends, I've had to rely on expired film rolls that people have been selling online. We were lucky enough to see an ad on OLX.Ph from a person who used to own several Kodak stores up north who was selling off their old stock. So the folks at work decided to purchase en mass...

Morning Time-Lapse

Image
I'm not quite sure if this counts as photography, but I've been getting more and more interested in Time-Lapses lately. I tried loading one of the first ones I'd created on YouTube directly from the phone but something happened and now that's not accessible. Here's the latest one, edited in Microsoft Movie Maker. The film photography project has been a bit delayed. Specially since developing will take 2 weeks, it's going to take some time. I'll be uploaded older photos if you don't mind. :-) For now, enjoy the video above.

Photography Blog Update

Image
Updates For those who don't yet know, I've left the glamorous life of studio portrait photography for a job at a company that revels in analogue photography. More than likely, as far as this blog is concerned, you'll be seeing a lot of analogue (scanned of course) photography from me. The following is an example: Sunset from Dive n Trek shot with the La Sardina If you want to see more from that set, please visit my lomo home . Commitment to Creation In my other blog, blogging bulatao , I committed to a blog entry everyday via any and all of my current blogger blogs. As far as future projects for Photobu go, I'm planning to do a rainbow unending panoramic with the Lomo LC-Wide (click the link if you want to learn more about the camera) by using the half frame sprocket without the mask. When it's ready, you'll see it on here.
