Elections May 10, 2010: God Help Us All

I didn't intend today to be a particularly photo intensive day. Honestly, I know I was lax in the past week (with regard to the Motorcycle Photo diary thing, give me a break! I had to work on my off day), and I haven't exactly been able to make up for that = no off since, well, April.

Today though marks another turning point in history, you might put it. Electronic polling machines were introduced to the polling process. You basically followed the same steps I put down in a previous election entry. The only difference being your ballots get scanned by the Picos Machine, which basically allows for a quicker tabulation of votes. No photos were allowed within the polling stations however.

The experience was quite long and hot. Considering we got there at 7:45 AM, we wound up leaving the place at 9:30 or so. Most of that time was spent waiting in line under the hot sun. Voting itself took about maybe 5 to 10 minutes max.

We went to Subway at the Petron gas station approaching Marilao NLEX exit to take advantage of their Election Buy One Take One (B.O.T.O.) promo. That took about an hour as well. Took most of the photos there... well, take a look at why. Yum.

Discussing the Term: Maniniyot

I was recently introduced to this term by a co-worker who said she'd been called one by her friend when said friend learned that she is now a photographer at The Picture Company . Supposedly " maniniyot " is the tagalog / filipino word for "photographer". Ok, first off, as far as the word goes, I'm not even sure if it's a real word. I can't begin to fathom what tagalog root-word could've birthed such a word (obvious from this reaction perhaps my revulsion to the term) if it is at all, in fact, tagalog. But language being such that it is, evolving I mean, I'm sure it was only a matter of time before we would invent such a word. Review: A7 Sports Action Cam via Lazada.com.ph

4 Days later Not sure how I should begin the little review... no, I'm sorry. I know how: You get what you pay for. Ok. Granted I paid just Php 1,199. For that amount, I was promised the following: 1) A portable yellow Action camera with 2) 5MP still photo capability, and 3) HD video recording 4) A waterproof case with different mounts Given that there were at other similar cameras on offer for at least 3x the price (the SJ4000 for example costs roughly Php 4,400 ), I thought I'd take the risk and buy this cheap little thing fairly conscious of potential trade offs. I conditioned myself to expect the worst. In that regard, I guess I wasn't disappointed, though not fully so. The Good:  The A7 looks a lot like the GoPro and some other Chinese made action cams (like the SJ4000 as previously mentioned). Camera (Equipment) Hunting: Kako Auto 300S Series Cut-Off System flash.

It's been awhile and a couple of months since I started talking about blogging more regularly. Yeah, I know. What's new right? I'd talked about several film photography projects I had in mind but I wasn't really able to push through with those, or rather I hadn't found the time to have the film developed. Until recently. More on that in another post later this week. I visited a Japan Surplus Warehouse today and found several items of interest. But since I wasn't sure about the other items as they're all usually sold “as is”, and because I was low on funds, the only thing I went home with was this Kako Auto 300SSeries Cut-Off System Flash. It was a bit of a gamble, as it is with these places. I'm glad to find out though that it works! Now if only it came with a manual. There's only a dial guide on the back and I believe I understand how to use it, but it would be nice to have some confirmation. Before I do wind up using it on /
